Kailee Martens, Bemidji High School student, was awarded $599 to attend 2 workshops for young writers at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she will learn to use more detail, improve her plot development, and find a narrative hook, aiding in the completion of her first novel.Loft workshop facilitators will provide an evaluation of the studentÆs work at the completion of the workshop series. Student will also seek feedback from trusted mentors and adults in the community who know her work.

Measurable Outcome(s)

The student achieved her intended outcomes in improving her ability to use more detail, and improve her plot development. Although she has not completed a novel yet, her new goal is to publish something online- and the Loft reportedly supplied this studen
